Job description

Footwear Testing Technician (PPE) | Kettering, Northamptonshire | Salary up to £25,000 | 37.5 hours per week | Full-time.

About the role

You will work in a physical testing laboratory, carrying out routine testing on footwear, footwear materials, and components. The role requires accurate, safe work in line with recognised standards.

Responsibilities
  • Operate standard laboratory equipment in accordance with Health & Safety procedures and test methods.
  • Conduct physical testing of footwear, materials, and components.
  • Support laboratory and store maintenance and general upkeep.
  • Maintain personal training records and comply with UKAS requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement within the laboratory.
  • Work to deadlines while producing accurate, detailed test results.
About you

You will be organised, reliable, and comfortable working in a structured, technical environment. You will work both independently and as part of a collaborative laboratory team.

Essential Requirements
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English and Science (NVQ Level 3).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A flexible, positive and proactive ‘can‑do’ attitude.
Desirable Experience
  • Previous experience in a physical testing or laboratory environment.
  • Knowledge of footwear construction and materials.
  • Full training will be provided – no prior footwear testing experience is required.
