Job summary

Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust is looking for a part-time Community Coach to deliver high-quality football coaching and education programmes at Whitmore High School and across Trust venues. You’ll support players to maximise their potential as footballers, students and individuals, balancing on-pitch coaching with programme administration.

The role focuses on developing better players, students and people, creating opportunities and clear pathways for progression in football,

Qualifications

• Experience of coaching 16–19-year-olds in football or education.
• UEFA C/Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football.
• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
• In date Safeguarding Children & First Aid in Football certificates.
• Understanding of the Trust commitment to EDI & Safeguarding.
• Ability to travel independently to required locations and events.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, high-quality coaching sessions across the Football & Education and Player Development Programmes.
• Support players' technical, tactical, physical and personal development, helping them achieve individual and programme objectives.
• Prepare, manage and support teams on matchdays, ensuring a positive and professional player experience.
• Build positive relationships with players, acting as a role model and promoting high standards of behaviour, attendance and commitment.
• Contribute to player recruitment, retention and progression, supporting programme growth and development targets.
• Monitor and review player performance, providing regular feedback and development opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with Trust and education staff to support player welfare, engagement and achievement.
• Adhere to all Trust, FA, safeguarding, health and safety, and programme policies and procedures, always maintaining compliance and professional standards.

Department: Football & Education, Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust

Reporting to: Football Development Manager

Hours: Part time 25 Hours Per Week

Salary: £15,900 pa

Passport/Visa: Must be eligible to work in the UK

Location: Cedars Youth and Community Centre, Chicheley Road, Harrow Weald, HA3 6QH. Although you may be required to be based at other locations from time to time.

Summary of Your Role

The Football & Education Community Coach plays a key role in the delivery and development of the Watford FC CSE Trust Football & Education Programme at Whitmore High School, supporting students to maximise their potential as footballers, students and individuals. The role combines high-quality football coaching, player development, matchday management, education and programme administration, while working closely with the Football Development Manager, Whitmore High School and the wider Trust team. Alongside the Football & Education programme, the role also delivers the Watford FC CSE Trust Player Development Programme and Holiday Football Development Programmes, helping to identify, develop and progress talented young players through high-quality coaching and individual support. Ultimately, the role is focused on developing better footballers, better students and better people, while creating opportunities and clear pathways for young people to progress in football, education and employment.

Your Roles and Responsibilities, but Not Limited To

You Must Have

• Experience of coaching 16–19-year-olds with a range of abilities in a football or education environment.
• UEFA C/Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football
• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills – both verbal and written.
• In date Safeguarding Children & First Aid in Football certificates.
• Understanding of the Trust commitment to EDI & Safeguarding.
• The ability to travel independently and reliably to all required work locations and events in the required time. This includes moving equipment when required, to fulfil the requirements of the role. (Applicants without a driving licence or access to a vehicle will still be considered.)

You Ideally Would Have

• Working towards completion of the Level 3 Certificate (UEFA B)
• Experience of marketing and promoting sports/education projects.
• An understanding of a Football & Education Programme.
• A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
