Job summary

Hywel Dda University Health Board invites a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon to join Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen, with a specialist interest in Foot and Ankle Surgery, to support services across South West Wales.

The post offers elective and emergency care, opportunities to develop specialist pathways, and a role in teaching, audit and clinical governance within a supportive team of consultants.

Qualifications

• GMC registration to practice in the UK.
• UK Specialist Register or CCT within six months of interview.
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
• Sub-specialty training in foot and ankle surgery appropriate for UK consultant practice.
• Welsh language ability desirable and support for learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-led trauma and orthopaedic care with focus on foot and ankle conditions.
• Deliver elective and trauma foot and ankle services across Hywel Dda University Health Board.
• Share in on-call on a rota for acute trauma care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient care and pathways.
• Lead teaching, supervision and training of junior doctors and allied staff.
• Engage in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement to ensure safe services.
