Job summary

Sapientia Education Trust's Attleborough Academy invites applications for a part-time Food Technology Technician to support practical lessons and maintain a safe cooking environment.

Working one day per week (Mondays) under the supervision of the Food Technology teacher and the Head of Technologies, you will prepare resources, maintain equipment and assist staff and students to deliver high-quality lessons.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths (grade C/4) or equivalent required.
• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
• Experience with ICT and classroom equipment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist teaching staff and other technicians to deliver safe, efficient service for practical lessons.
• Prepare materials and equipment for Food Technology sessions.
• Maintain and safely store equipment; monitor safety in teaching areas.

Food Technology Technician

Location: Attleborough

Salary: FTE: £26,427 to £26,847 per annum Pro-rata: £4,608 to £4,764 per annum, including an allowance for holiday pay

Vacancy Type: Permanent, Part Time (7.5 hours per week, Term Time)

With effect from October 2026, we are seeking to appoint a part-time Food Technician, working one day per week (Monday) to support the teaching of Food Technology enabling the smooth running of practical classes and maintaining a safe working environment.

Working under the day-to-day supervision of our Food Technology teacher and the Head of Technologies Faculty, you will be required to assist and support the department which will include maintaining equipment and preparing resources for lessons.

The appointed candidate must have positive approaches to and enjoy working with young people. In turn, you will have a fulfilling opportunity to work with staff and students supporting a popular subject within our Academy community.

The qualifications and experience required of a Food Technology Technician are:

• * A minimum of a grade C / 4, or equivalent, in English and Maths GCSE.
• * NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in relevant discipline.
• * Experience of using ICT and other technology.
• * Able to prepare materials and equipment for practical work.
• * Able to ensure teaching rooms and equipment are in a condition that effectively supports teaching and learning.
• * Knowledge about relevant Health and Safety requirements and able to support high Health and Safety standards.

General Responsibilities

The Food Technology Technician is responsible for assisting teaching staff and other technicians in the delivery of a safe, effective and efficient service to learns by the provision of technician services, including technical advice and assistance to staff and students.
