Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated Food Technology Teacher to join secondary schools across Halifax. You will inspire students, develop practical cooking skills, nutrition knowledge and food science understanding, delivering engaging lessons for Key Stages 3 and 4.

You will manage classrooms effectively, assess progress, and support learning in a safe, inclusive environment. This temporary role includes flexible placements and ongoing development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching Food Technology at secondary level.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Passion for inspiring young people and promoting healthy lifestyles.
• Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons in line with the national curriculum.
• Teach practical and theoretical aspects of food preparation, nutrition, and food safety.
• Assess, monitor, and support student progress.
• Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment within the classroom and food technology facilities.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively in accordance with school policies.
• Contribute to department planning, assessment, and enrichment activities where required.
