Job summary

GSL Education is seeking a confident Food Technology teacher for a full-time role in Medway. The timetable will focus on Food Technology and practical cooking, with occasional Design & Technology lessons.

The role starts in Sept 2025 and is Monday to Friday, 5 days per week. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Food Technology, excellent practical cooking skills, and an up-to-date Food Safety/Health & Safety qualification, ready to work with secondary pupils and uphold

Qualifications

• Qualified Food Technology teacher or equivalent.
• Excellent practical cooking skills.
• In-date Food Safety/Health & Safety qualification required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mainly Food Technology and practical cooking sessions to secondary pupils.
• Supervise safe and effective practical cooking activities and maintain safeguarding standards.

A secondary school in the Medway area is looking to identify a confident and enthusiastic Food Technology / DT professional who may be available for a full-time role. The timetable would be predominantly Food Technology and practical cooking, with some Design & Technology lessons included. This opportunity could suit a qualified Food Technology teacher, Early Career Teacher, trainee teacher, Food Technology graduate, instructor or experienced technician with strong practical cooking skills.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience or a strong background in Food Technology / Food Preparation
• Excellent practical cooking skills
• An in-date Food Safety / Health & Safety qualification
• Confidence working with secondary-aged pupils
• The ability to supervise practical cooking safely and effectively
• Some knowledge or experience of Design & Technology would be advantageous
• Availability to work 5 days per week

Food Technology form an important part of the school's curriculum, giving students opportunities to develop practical, creative and life skills.
