Job summary

Supply Desk is seeking a Food Technology Teacher to deliver engaging, hands-on lessons in Aylesbury from September 2026. You will help students develop culinary skills, nutrition knowledge and a solid understanding of food safety, while managing practical equipment and safe working environments.

The role is full-time, temporary to permanent, with competitive pay and a strong DBS/compliance focus to safeguard pupils and promote welfare.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching Food Technology, Food Preparation or Nutrition.
  • Strong knowledge of food hygiene and safety.
  • Excellent organisational skills and health and safety awareness.
  • Confident classroom management and ability to engage students.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Food Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Deliver practical cooking lessons that develop students' confidence and technical skills.
  • Teach food preparation, nutrition, healthy eating and food science concepts.
  • Ensure strict adherence to food hygiene and health and safety regulations.
  • Prepare students for GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition coursework and assessments.
  • Manage ingredients, equipment and food technology resources effectively.

Food Technology Teacher

Effective practical lessons begin with clear structure, organisation and a focus on developing essential life skills. As a Food Technology Teacher, you will deliver engaging, hands‑on lessons that inspire students to develop their culinary skills, nutritional knowledge and understanding of food preparation, safety and hygiene.

Employment Type: Full-Time, Temporary to Permanent

Salary: £29,344 – £44,919

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Food Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Deliver practical cooking lessons that develop students' confidence and technical skills
  • Teach food preparation, nutrition, healthy eating and food science concepts
  • Ensure strict adherence to food hygiene and health and safety regulations
  • Prepare students for GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition coursework and assessments
  • Manage ingredients, equipment and food technology resources effectively
Classroom Environment
  • Deliver practical lessons with clear structure and organisation
  • Encourage students to work independently and collaboratively in a kitchen environment
  • Prioritise food safety, hygiene and a positive learning atmosphere
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, participation and achievement
Skills and Experience
  • Experience teaching Food Technology, Food Preparation and Nutrition, or a related subject
  • Strong knowledge of food hygiene, nutrition and practical cooking techniques
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to health and safety procedures
  • Confident classroom management and the ability to engage students in practical learning

Qualifications

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable; however, we welcome applications from unqualified teachers, particularly those with engineering or design backgrounds.
