Job summary

TeacherActive is partnering with a Birmingham-based academy to appoint a dedicated Food Technology Teacher on a full-time, long-term basis, starting ASAP. You will plan and deliver engaging theory and practical lessons, assess progress, and maintain a safe learning environment to help students develop culinary knowledge and skills.

The role requires QTS for UK secondary schools and experience teaching Food Technology, with strong curriculum knowledge and classroom management.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) for UK secondary schools.
• Experience teaching Food Technology within a UK secondary school.
• Strong subject knowledge of the secondary curriculum and health and safety in practicals.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging theory and practical Food Technology lessons.
• Assess student progress and provide feedback to support improvement.
• Maintain a safe learning environment and promote high standards of behaviour.
• Encourage students to develop culinary knowledge, confidence and practical skills.

Role

The school is looking to appoint a dedicated Food Technology Teacher on a full‑time, long‑term basis, starting ASAP. The successful Food Technology Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging theory and practical lessons, assessing student progress, maintaining a safe learning environment and encouraging students to develop their culinary knowledge, confidence and practical skills.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status / QTS (ECTs are welcome to apply)
• Experience teaching Food Technology within a UK secondary school
• Strong subject knowledge and an understanding of the secondary curriculum
• Excellent classroom management and the ability to maintain high standards of behaviour
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures within a practical Food Technology classroom
• A positive, adaptable attitude and a passion for inspiring young learners
