Job summary

Pilgrim's Europe is seeking an experienced Food Safety & Quality Manager to lead the site's food safety, quality and compliance within a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment.

You will drive HACCP-based systems, manage audits and investigations, champion continuous improvement, and develop the Food Safety & Quality team while embedding a robust safety culture.

Qualifications

• Degree in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline.
• Proven FMCG food manufacturing experience.
• Strong knowledge of HACCP, BRCGS, and food safety legislation.
• Experience leading audits (customer, third-party, regulatory).
• People management and team leadership experience.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience driving root cause analysis and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and continuously improve the site's HACCP-based Food Safety & Quality Management System.
• Ensure products consistently meet customer, legal, and food safety requirements.
• Support successful new product and process introductions from concept to launch.
• Lead customer, BRCGS, third-party, and regulatory audits, ensuring compliance and effective corrective actions.
• Manage non-conforming products, customer complaints, product holds, and investigations.
• Monitor hygiene, housekeeping, and factory standards through regular audits and inspections.
• Analyse microbiological and chemical trends to identify risks and implement preventative actions.
• Lead serious incident investigations, crisis management activities, and water quality programmes.
• Manage, coach, and develop the Food Safety & Quality team.
• Provide technical guidance and training across the site to promote a strong food safety culture.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, compliance, and operational performance.

• Previous people management and team leadership experience.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong experience of root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to build effective relationships with customers, auditors, and stakeholders.
• Advanced Diploma in Applied HACCP Principles.
• Project management, coaching, and training experience.
• Experience managing customer technical relationships and responding to quality issues.
