Job summary

Huntingdonshire District Council is seeking a Food & Safety Officer on a fixed-term contract. You will manage a caseload covering food hygiene and health and safety, working to support Environmental Health Officers in a small team and progressing toward the Food Safety Practitioner (CIEH) qualification.

The role includes interpreting legislation, guiding businesses and the public, and prioritising workload to meet deadlines. Hybrid working with attendance two days a week is expected.

Job description

This Food & Safety Officer post sits in the Environmental Health team at Huntingdonshire District Council, on a fixed-term contract running to March 2028. The work covers food hygiene and health and safety, with the post-holder carrying their own caseload while supporting Environmental Health Officers. The post is built around training, with successful candidates working alongside experienced officers to qualify as a Food Safety Practitioner (CIEH). The council does not offer visa sponsorship, so candidates must already have the right to work in the UK.
