Job summary

Gi Group is recruiting a Production Operative for a busy food production site in Scunthorpe. You will operate production and packaging lines, follow SOPs, and uphold food safety standards to ensure products meet quality targets.

You will perform basic machine setup and reporting, maintain clean as you go practices, assist with changeovers, and handle paperwork and traceability records. The role requires reliability and good teamwork in a fast-paced shift pattern.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in production/packing roles within food manufacturing or a similar environment.
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene standards and working to SOPs.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet targets/line speeds.
• Own transport to travel to Scunthorpe (DN15).

Responsibilities

• Operate production and packaging lines to meet output and quality targets.
• Follow SOPs and food safety procedures to required standards.
• Carry out basic machine setup, start-up and shutdown checks.
• Monitor product quality and remove non-conforming items.
• Complete production paperwork, traceability records and downtime logs.
• Support changeovers by replenishing materials and assisting with restart checks.
• Maintain a clean work area and waste disposal per standards.
• Adhere to PPE, hygiene, and contamination control; raise safety concerns.
• Assist with manual handling tasks including packing and palletising.
