Job summary

Gi Group UK is recruiting a Production Operative for a busy food production site in Scunthorpe. This role focuses on operating production and packaging lines, following SOPs and food safety procedures to ensure products meet required standards.

You will perform basic machine setup, monitor quality, complete paperwork, support changeovers, and help keep the working area clean and compliant with PPE rules. A fast-paced environment requires reliability and good teamwork.

Qualifications

• Experience in production/packing in food manufacturing or similar.
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards and SOPs.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet targets.
• Travel to Scunthorpe (own transport preferred).
• Physically fit and able to stand for full shifts; reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Operate production and packaging lines to meet daily output and quality targets.
• Follow SOPs and food safety procedures to ensure products meet standards.
• Carry out basic machine set-up, start-up and shutdown checks and report issues.
• Monitor product quality (weights, seals, labels, visual checks) and remove non-conforming items.
• Complete production paperwork, traceability records and downtime logs accurately.
• Support changeovers by replenishing materials and assisting with safe restart checks.
• Maintain a clean work area in line with PPE, hygiene and contamination controls.
• Assist with manual handling tasks including packing, palletising and moving goods safely.
