Job summary

Travail Employment Group in Worksop is recruiting a Lab Technician to support environmental testing of food ingredients and product samples, and to report results.

Key duties include collecting daily samples, performing analyses, preparing media, maintaining lab documentation, calibrating instruments, and managing stock and consumables.

The ideal candidate will have GCSE maths and science (or A‑Levels/BTEC L3 science), lab experience, basic IT (Word/Excel), and a proactive, independent work style.

Qualifications

• GCSE maths and science, or A‑Levels sciences, or BTEC L3 science.
• Experience in a lab environment with varied techniques and instrumentation.
• Experience in a food environment desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Collect and assist with daily testing of ingredients, finished products, and environmental samples.
• Evaluate analyses to identify unusual results or trends.
• Assist with analysis, including media preparation and instrument maintenance.
• Maintain laboratory documentation and input data into site systems.
• Keep instruments calibrated and maintained; ensure hygienic lab conditions.
• Manage stock levels and request consumables; troubleshoot equipment.
