Job summary

The National Trust is looking for a Food and Beverage Team Leader to join our cafes across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. You’ll lead front-of-house operations, ensuring days are busy yet run smoothly, with a clear focus on delivering outstanding service to every visitor.

You’ll supervise teams, guide training and inductions, and help maintain accurate displays and attractive food presentation while collaborating with the kitchen when needed.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required, but a passion for hospitality and service helps.
• Ability to lead, support and develop a team while maintaining service standards.
• Willingness to learn about allergens and food safety and participate in training.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day supervision to the cafe team and ensure high service standards.
• Direct interaction with customers to deliver friendly, efficient dining experiences.
• Oversee displays, signage, and food presentation to look appealing and inviting.
• Assist kitchen staff with food prep when needed and support induction and training of colleagues.

Hours:

This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year. You'll work 1170 hours per year. Some weeks you might work 2 days, some weeks you might work 5 days, but this will change due to operational demand.

Salary:

£15,502.5 per annum (pro rata)

Duration:

Permanent

What you'll be doing

As a Team Leader, you’ll be giving day-to-day support to your team, to make sure they’re consistently giving great service to everyone who comes to the café. This is a busy, lively place to work, so you’ll need to be adaptable.
Your focus will be front of house, dealing directly with people and serving them food and drink. Crucial to this role will be your love of working with people, your positive ‘can-do’ attitude and your desire to provide an outstanding service.
Using your excellent eye for detail, you’ll make sure all displays and signs are accurate, and that the food is looking good. At times, you may need to help the kitchen team with preparing food.
You’ll also be supervising the induction and training of colleagues, to help build a team that’s dedicated to great service and to giving people a day to remember.
We’ll give you an induction that fits the job, and training in allergens and food safety, plus any mentoring needed to help you in your role. You can sign up for further professional training and development if you wish.
