Job summary

Equans in Portsmouth is seeking a Food and Cleaning Team Leader to manage housekeeping and patient services at Queen Alexandra Hospital. The role involves rostering, supervision, and ensuring adherence to cleanliness and NHS standards.

You will lead the team to deliver high-quality cleaning and catering services, with focus on attendance, training, and performance management, while supporting a positive, compliant workplace.

Qualifications

  • Basic education completed with reliable numeracy and literacy.
  • Experience in supervising teams in hospitality or facilities.
  • Familiarity with food handling and safety practices desirable.
  • Experience with performance management including appraisals and attendance monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee housekeeping and patient services staff daily.
  • Manage duty rosters and allocate work to ensure service standards.
  • Supervise ward/department cleaning and patient food/beverage service.
  • Recruitment, induction, training, attendance, and performance management.
  • Conduct daily quality checks and report on PMS performance.

This is a full time role working 35 hours per week. Ensuring full cover is provided regarding duty rosters and allocation of work to ensure effective completion of duties in line with the performance standards.• Supervision and control of standards of service delivered to the Trust at ward/departmental level which will include the delivery of the cleaning, along with patient food and beverage service.• Supervision of staff, including recruitment, interviewing, induction, training, control of absence, timekeeping, appraisal, performance, standards of behaviour and dress.• Monitoring of staff attendance, in relation to lateness, childcare, and sickness absence, including offering support via completion of Occupational Health referrals where appropriate. Follow up by issuing of appropriate warnings or completing reviews in line with the relevant Trust Policies.• Conduct daily visual inspection and complete quality control checks.
