Job summary

Michael Page is seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer and team lead for a highly automated FMCG production facility in the United Kingdom. You will lead the engineering team, manage reactive and planned maintenance, and collaborate with production to minimise downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

The role requires electrical or mechanical engineering qualifications, strong fault-finding across electrical and mechanical systems, and PLC exposure (programming not required).

Qualifications

• Qualified in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Apprenticeship, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Experience in manufacturing or FMCG environment (food industry desirable).
• Strong fault-finding skills across electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of PLCs, sensors, motors, and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate the engineering team to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment to minimise downtime.
• Implement and monitor preventative maintenance programmes to enhance equipment reliability.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards across all engineering activities.
• Coordinate with production teams to address technical challenges and optimise processes.
• Manage budgets and resources to achieve engineering objectives effectively.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance.
• Prepare and present reports on engineering performance and project progress.
