Job summary

Mars Petcare Melton Mowbray is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join the manufacturing site. You’ll maintain and optimise automated, electromechanical systems, including meat processing equipment, conveyors, and refrigeration, to minimise downtime.

With a minimum HNC/HND in mechanical engineering and FMCG experience, you’ll lead technical troubleshooting, coach colleagues, and drive continuous improvement while adhering to safety standards and Mars values.

Qualifications

• Minimum HNC/HND in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Experience in FMCG or manufacturing environments.
• Proven problem-solving and fault-finding abilities.
• Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
• Technical proficiency with Excel, PI ProcessBook, and SAP Planned Maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance automated electromechanical systems – including refrigeration, meat processing equipment, conveyors, and fluid systems.
• Diagnose breakdowns and implement timely resolutions to reduce downtime.
• Lead by example as a technical coach and support colleagues to elevate the team.
• Drive small-scale improvements and continuous innovation for efficiency.
• Champion safety and ensure compliance with PTW, ISO standards and safety policies.
• Communicate effectively between operations and technical teams to align priorities.
• Develop talent through training and mentoring of engineers.
