Job summary

CHEP is hiring an experienced FLT Driver / General Operative at the Asda Import Centre in Middlesbrough. You will operate forklifts safely to support production and service hauliers, including vacuum lift operations to sort pallets to exact standards.

Shifts are Double Days, 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm, Mon-Fri, with a full-time permanent contract. The role offers a competitive salary and opportunities to grow within a global leader in pallet pooling.

Qualifications

• Experience in a fast-paced warehouse yard or similar environment.
• Strong communication skills with hauliers.
• Minimum 2 years' counterbalance forklift operation experience.
• External FLT licence (RTITB or ITSSAR) - up to 5 tons (B1) or equivalent.
• Reach Forklift Qualification (desirable).
• RTITB trained (desirable).
• Safety-conscious, reliable, and able to work to quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate FLT trucks to support production and haulier operations.
• Direct visiting vehicles during loading and unloading.
• Maintain smooth flow on production lines within agreed SLAs.
• Sort stocks to correct standards following specific guidelines.
• Ensure trucks and equipment are well maintained; report operational problems including damage to truck or property.
• Carefully handle and store company hire stock while following required stock rotations.
