Job summary

B&Q Limited in Southampton is seeking an Assistant Buyer for a 12 Month FTC. You will work with the Buyer to build an inspiring product range, drive sales, margins and market share across channels, and manage vendor relationships to deliver value and strong category performance.

Based at the Southampton Store Support Office with hybrid working (3 days in the office), you’ll develop categories, support sourcing, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time stock and successful

Qualifications

• Experience in sourcing and buying product ranges.
• Ability to understand customer insights and market trends.
• Experience in vendor management and contract negotiation.
• Strong communication and influencing skills.
• Ability to build relationships at all levels.
• Attention to detail to assist with issue resolution and problem solving.
• Experience of managing projects and holding stakeholders to account.
• Commercial and financial awareness.
• Flexible and proactive.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Buyer to develop and deliver an inspirational product range.
• Support sourcing and development of a compelling product range with vendors.
• Collaborate with O&S to shape an own label proposition.
• Support the buying process ensuring stock is ordered and delivered on time.
• Assist end-to-end vendor strategy including negotiations and reviews.
• Gather insights to support pricing hierarchy and Minderest comparisons.
• Support lifecycle through range performance and promotions.
• Coordinate sampling with QA and lab setup.
• Coordinate with Marketing and Digital teams for assets and brochures.
