Lavender Lodge Care Home in Derby seeks an experienced Senior Carer to lead and develop the care team, delivering high-quality personal care and maintaining compassionate, person-centred support for residents.
You will supervise shifts, administer medications, update care plans, mentor staff, and collaborate with families and health professionals to ensure safety and dignity in daily routines.
Lavender Lodge is a CQC-regulated nursing home on a deliberate journey of cultural and quality transformation. We are raising our standards not just in documentation and clinical competency, but in the energy, warmth, and professionalism that define daily life for our residents.
As Senior Carer, you will be a critical part of makingthat happen. You are not just a shift leader you are a standard-setter, a culture carrier, and one of the first people our residents and families turn to.
A great Senior Carer at Lavender Lodge does not just manage a shift — they shape it. They walk onto the floor and the energy shifts. Residents feel it. Junior staff feel it. A high-performing Senior Carer holds people to account with kindness; challenges poor practice without humiliating; and consistently asks: "Is this the best we can do for this person today?" They understand that documentation is protection — for the resident, the team, and the organisation — and they treat it with the same care they bring to hands‑on work.
As a Senior Care Assistant at Lavender Lodge, you will play a key role in supporting residents and ensuring their wellbeing. Working as part of a caring team, you will help deliver high standards of personal care, encourage independence, and maintain a safe and comfortable environment. You will also support and mentor junior staff, helping to ensure best practice across the home. Your duties will include assisting with daily routines, administering medication, updating care records, and liaising with families and health professionals. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships and making a positive impact.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Previous experience in a care or support role, ideally within a residential setting
We want leaders who lead with warmth not just authority.
Technical competence is a given. What sets our Senior Carers apart is their character. We want people who bring genuine energy to every shift: who are chatty with residents, fun with colleagues, and firm when it matters. People who do not clock-watch; who notice the resident sitting alone at the window and do something about it.
If you are the kind of person who naturally takes ownership, who raises standards without being asked, and who believes that a well‑run shift should also be a joyful one
