Mears Group is seeking a Floor Layer for a full-time position in Dover. The role involves various flooring tasks, including installation and preparation, requiring a UK driving licence and previous experience. Benefits include 25 days annual leave, staff discounts, and a supportive work environment.
Hourly rate: £14.37
Position: Floor Layer
Location: Dover
Employment type: Full Time Permanent, Monday – Friday, 8am to 5pm, 42.5 hours per week

We are the largest provider of repairs, maintenance, and regeneration services across the UK. Mears offers tailored rapid-response and planned maintenance services through partnerships with over 70 local authorities, Arm’s Length Management Organisations, and Housing Associations.
About the Role:
As a Floor Layer working alongside Dover Council, you will deliver a stable and profitable contract, providing excellent service and support through our local teams, who understand the importance of working collaboratively for the community.
Your duties include a range of flooring tasks such as renewing sheet vinyl, accurately measuring, cutting, and laying vinyl smoothly, and sealing seams for durability. When working with tiles, including ceramic, you will cut tiles precisely, apply mortar or adhesive, and ensure even alignment, with grouting and sealing for a polished finish. Installing cap and cove wet room floors involves creating seamless, waterproof surfaces that curve up the walls to prevent water ingress, requiring precise cutting and sealing. Preparation tasks include cleaning, repairing, and priming floors to ensure proper adhesion. Applying self-levelling compounds or screed involves mixing, pouring, and spreading evenly, followed by curing to create a smooth base. Each task demands a good understanding of materials and techniques to achieve professional, durable results.
Role Criteria:
All roles require candidates to have the entitlement to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available. To drive a Mears vehicle, candidates must be over 21, have held their licence for over 3 months, and have fewer than 9 points.
All roles are subject to DBS/Security checks before employment begins.
