Job summary

WSP is seeking Flood Risk Modellers to deliver our national programme of flood risk management. You will contribute to fluvial and pluvial modelling projects and collaborate with our national hydraulic modelling team on external and internal client work.

The role offers the chance to lead technical reviews, develop modelling approaches, prepare reports and proposals, and help drive innovation across major UK infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in undertaking fluvial and pluvial hydraulic modelling.
• Provide technical leadership in flood modelling within teams.
• Experience of undertaking model reviews for statutory bodies.
• Commercial experience, including project management and bid preparation.
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
• Relevant experience delivering infrastructure projects or government/local authority work.
• Drive to build client relationships and develop opportunities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Chartership with a relevant professional body or commitment to work towards.
• Desirable: GIS; FCERM studies; Flood Risk Assessments; knowledge of UK flood policy and methods.

Responsibilities

• Work on fluvial and pluvial modelling projects using Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HECRAS or ICM.
• Support flood modelling studies within our teams.
• Scope and develop hydraulic modelling approaches.
• Lead or support technical reviews of hydraulic models.
• Prepare or support technical reports and presentations for clients.
• Support business development through identifying opportunities and proposals.
• Provide support or lead project, commercial and financial management.
• Client and stakeholder liaison.
