Job summary

West Lothian Council is seeking an Engineer to join the Flood Risk Management team. You will support the Senior Engineer in delivering flood risk projects, managing programmes, budgets and procurement, and coordinating with consultants and contractors.

The role requires strong technical reporting, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to work across internal and external partners to deliver effective, sustainable solutions while complying with H&S and planning guidelines.

Qualifications

• Background in flood risk management or civil engineering preferred, with proven project delivery experience.
• Experience coordinating with consultants, contractors and public bodies.

Responsibilities

• Manage flood risk projects from conception to completion.
• Develop briefs, programmes, budgets and procurement strategies.
• Commission and manage consultants and contractors.
• Coordinate investigations, surveys, modelling, design and construction activities.
• Prepare reports and recommendations for council management and committees.
• Engage with communities, stakeholders and elected members.
