Job summary

Leicester City Council in Central England is recruiting for a full-time Flood Risk and Drainage Officer based at 90 Leycroft Road. You will assess flood risk, develop drainage strategies, and engage with developers and the public to promote sustainable drainage and climate adaptation.

The role offers flexible working, participation in the Local Government Pension Scheme, and generous annual leave as part of the package. This permanent role works 37 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Degree in Geography, Geology or similar environmental field.
• Foundation degree in Flood and Coastal Engineering.
• Experience in flood risk projects or academic work.

Responsibilities

• Deal with enquiries from developers, consultants, and members of the public, and provide technical advice and guidance on drainage and flood risk.
• Respond to submitted planning applications on behalf of the Lead Local Flood Authority with respect to flood risk and encourage sustainable drainage of new development sites.
• Liaise with Environment Agency, Severn Trent Water and other consultants and developers.
