Salary: £29,452 per annum

Hourly equivalent: Approximately £14.16 per hour

THIS IS A TEMPORARY CONTRACT UNTIL END OF 2026

Moxie People is recruiting a compassionate, motivated and proactive Floating Support Worker to join a community-based homelessness support service in Cardiff. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about helping vulnerable individuals overcome challenges, build independence and work towards a more stable future. You'll deliver person-centred, trauma-informed support, empowering clients to make informed choices, achieve their goals and access the services they need to thrive. If you're a confident communicator who can work independently, build positive relationships and collaborate with partner agencies, we'd love to hear from you!

The Role:

As a Floating Support Worker, you will provide tailored support to individuals experiencing homelessness or facing complex challenges. You'll work independently in the community, managing your own client appointments while ensuring support is safe, effective and focused on each person's individual goals.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Delivering person-centred support: Build positive, trusting relationships and work alongside clients to help them achieve their goals, maintain choice and control, and develop greater independence.
  • Creating and reviewing support plans: Complete regular reviews and update support plans within required timescales, helping clients identify and work towards meaningful outcomes.
  • Assessments and safeguarding: Complete needs assessments and risk assessments using a trauma-informed, psychologically informed approach, promoting the safety and well being of clients and colleagues.
  • Working with partner agencies: Build effective relationships with external services, coordinate multi-agency meetings and case conferences, and help ensure clients receive appropriate, joined-up support.
  • Promoting financial stability: Support clients to access relevant benefits and maximise their income, helping them work towards greater financial security.
  • Coordinating support: Where required, coordinate the work of Assistant Support Workers to ensure agreed actions are completed professionally and on time.
  • Making appropriate referrals: Identify additional needs and connect clients with suitable external services where support cannot be provided internally.
  • Maintaining accurate records: Update the service's web-based client management system, ensuring records are accurate, timely and meet contractual requirements.
  • Achieving service outcomes: Contribute towards performance targets, contractual KPIs and quality standards while maintaining high standards of practice.
  • Working safely and professionally: Follow lone-working procedures, relevant legislation, safeguarding guidance and organisational policies, while respecting each individual's background, culture and beliefs.
  • Supporting the wider team: Maintain clear communication with colleagues, participate in training and development, and contribute to the management/duty management rota when required.
What we're looking for
  • Compassionate, patient and committed to supporting people experiencing homelessness or other complex challenges.
  • Experienced in support work, housing support, homelessness services or a similar people-focused role.
  • Confident completing support plans, needs assessments and risk assessments.
  • Able to work independently in a community-based setting while managing time and competing priorities effectively.
  • Skilled at building positive relationships and working collaboratively with clients, colleagues and external agencies.
  • Knowledgeable about safeguarding, confidentiality, professional boundaries and person-centred practice.
  • Organised and confident maintaining accurate records and working towards service targets.
Essential requirements:
  • A full UK driving licence and the ability to drive for the role.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered with the Update Service.

We look forward to speaking with you about this exciting opportunity!
