Job summary

Step Teachers Ltd. is recruiting Teaching Assistants to work across schools in St Albans and surrounding areas. Roles are flexible, with daily and short-term placements available to fit your availability.

You will support pupils, assist teachers, and help maintain a calm, inclusive learning environment. Ideal candidates have experience with children, strong behavior management skills, and the ability to build relationships with pupils and staff. DBS update service is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting.
• Strong understanding of behaviour management and inclusive practices.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
• Resilient, patient and empathetic approach.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils in both classroom and one-to-one settings.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering learning activities.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
• Help create a calm and inclusive learning environment.
• Work closely with the SENCO and other support staff to implement individual education plans.
• Provide feedback on pupil progress and behaviour to teaching staff.
• Support pupils during transitions and break times.
