Job summary

ASDA Stores Ltd is hiring an Optical Colleague in Chapeltown. The role involves assisting eye examinations, dispensing eyewear, and handling repairs, with shift patterns across 24/7 store operations. Training is provided via the Asda Optical Step In programme or Level 3 Optical Assistant Apprenticeship, depending on region and entry requirements.

You must be 18+ and pass an enhanced safeguarding check. The position offers a competitive £13.10 hourly rate for a 15-hour week with flexible shifts

Qualifications

• Be naturally friendly and highly organised; ready to get stuck in with the team.
• Good computer skills, attention to detail, and clear communication with customers.
• Loves problem solving and comfortable working with numbers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for eye examinations and explain each test step.
• Complete pre-screening examinations and book appointments.
• Dispense spectacles and contact lenses and handle repairs/adjustments.
• Ensure stock is received and maintained with suppliers.
• Participate in training paths (Asda Optical Step In or Level 3 Apprenticeship).
• Potential to progress to Dispensing Optician via Level 6 Apprenticeship.
