Job summary

Nottingham City Council is seeking flexible Casual Market Operatives to support Markets and Fairs across Nottingham. The role involves setting up and breaking down stalls, assisting traders and maintaining site cleanliness.

Shifts vary and include early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Casual, as-needed hours with no guaranteed hours. Hybrid/work arrangements may apply depending on service needs.

Qualifications

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
• Practical approach including manual handling and outdoor duties.
• Understanding of health and safety and safe working practices.
• Basic IT skills for completing records and communicating.
• Ability to travel to multiple market sites across Nottingham.

Responsibilities

• Set up and dismantle market stalls and equipment.
• Assist traders and move supplies as required.
• Perform site inspections and maintain cleanliness standards.
• Support during events and periods of high demand.
• Ensure sites are safe, welcoming and well organized.
• Carry out general market operational duties as required.
