Job summary

Locums First is recruiting Locum General Practitioners to provide flexible sessional work across multiple primary care services in Scotland. You will deliver evidence-based GP care through urgent access appointments, routine reviews, telephone consultations and clinical triage, with supportive teams and clear workflows.

We offer fully flexible shifts, weekday/evening/weekend sessions, and options for ongoing or ad-hoc cover to fit your availability and location.

Qualifications

• GMC-registered GP with active practice permission.
• Inclusion on NHS Performers List is required.
• Experience in GP, urgent care or community primary care settings.
• Adapt quickly to new clinical environments.
• Strong clinical reasoning and clear communication.
• Valid indemnity and Enhanced DBS.

Responsibilities

• Manage urgent and routine GP clinics across primary care settings.
• Conduct telephone consultations and triage for patients.
• Assess acute, chronic and undifferentiated presentations.
• Prescribe within scope and handle medication queries.
• Review results, referrals and follow-up actions.
• Record accurate clinical notes in service systems.
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams.
