Job summary

Teacher Active is seeking Learning Support Assistants to work across Mansfield and surrounding areas with partner primary schools. Roles range from flexible day-to-day supply to longer-term placements across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, ideal for those wanting varied experience in primary education.

The successful candidate will support pupils, provide 1:1 and small-group interventions, foster inclusion and safeguarding, and work closely with teachers to help children develop confidence and independence.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people.
• Experience within a primary school, nursery, SEN setting or similar environment.
• A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
• The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• A patient, calm and nurturing approach.
• Confidence supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• An understanding of safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
• Flexibility, reliability and a willingness to adapt to different settings.
• Previous school experience is desirable but not essential for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils within the classroom to help them access their learning.
• Providing 1:1 support for children who need additional guidance.
• Working with small groups and delivering targeted learning interventions.
• Supporting pupils with SEN, ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties and other additional learning needs.
• Encouraging positive behaviour, engagement and participation in lessons.
• Building trusting relationships with pupils and promoting independence.
• Working closely with class teachers to support children's learning, development and wellbeing.
• Helping to create a safe, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment.
