Job summary

Acorn by Synergie is seeking a reliable Maintenance Assistant to support repairs, refurbishment and decorating at a student residential site in Stratford, East London. The role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, usually 8am-4:30pm, on a temporary basis with potential extension.

Reporting to the Residence Manager, you will help maintain safe, comfortable accommodation and communal areas to a high standard, ensuring residents have a positive living environment during the academic year.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance, facilities or building services.
• Practical skills across maintenance disciplines.
• Proactive, independent and team-friendly.
• Basic IT skills to log jobs and update records.
• Flexible and collaborative approach.
• Trade qualification in plumbing, electrical, carpentry or maintenance.
• Experience in student accommodation, hospitality or education settings.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the site.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from residents and staff.
• Undertake basic repairs (joinery, painting, decorating, minor electrical work).
• Assist with room refurbishments and end-of-tenancy works.
• Ensure activities comply with health and safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks and completed work.
• Support the residence team during key operational periods.
