Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a confident Cover Supervisor to join a supportive secondary school in Derby and Nottingham on a flexible, long-term or day-to-day basis.

You will lead lessons, manage classroom behaviour, and provide clear handover feedback while supporting student wellbeing and a positive school environment. The role offers temp-to-perm progression and access to Milk Academy CPD.

Qualifications

• Experience as Cover Supervisor or HLTA with secondary pupils.
• Strong behaviour management and rapport-building skills.
• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving abilities.
• Degree or relevant educational qualifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead whole-class lessons across Key Stage 3 and 4 in the absence of the timetabled teacher.
• Deliver pre-set work, manage classroom behaviour, and keep pupils focused and engaged.
• Uphold high expectations for learning and create a structured, positive classroom environment.
• Respond to individual student needs and support across a range of subjects.
• Provide clear handover feedback to regular teaching staff at session end.
• Collaborate with departmental heads and pastoral teams Nottingham.
