Job summary

Academics Hull is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Cover Supervisors to work in secondary schools across Selby and surrounding areas. There is flexibility to choose day-to-day supply or longer-term opportunities, with competitive daily rates and local opportunities in Selby and nearby areas.

You will help maintain continuity in the classroom when teachers are absent, delivering pre-prepared work, managing behaviour and supporting staff. Safeguarding and compliance checks are part of the process.

Qualifications

• No QTS required to work as a Cover Supervisor.
• Strong confidence, communication skills and a proactive attitude are important.
• Experience working with young people, ideally within a school or youth setting.
• Ability to follow lesson plans and instructions accurately.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes of secondary school pupils during teacher absences.
• Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and explain tasks clearly.
• Maintain a positive learning environment and manage classroom behaviour.
• Encourage pupils to stay focused, engaged and on task.
• Support school staff with day-to-day classroom requirements.
• Follow school safeguarding policies and behaviour expectations.
• Adapt to different schools, classes and subjects throughout the week.
