Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a Catering Assistant to join our catering team at County Hall. You will assist with preparing, cooking, and serving food and drinks in the Food Court, help set up the dining area, and maintain cleanliness at the end of service. Flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays is required.

You should have good numerical skills, food safety knowledge, and be able to work as part of a team while delivering accessible and inclusive service.

Qualifications

• Have good numerical skills.
• Have previous food preparation experience with good food safety practice in accordance with legal requirements.
• Have basic knowledge of food safety and health and safety.
• Be able to establish rapport with customers and have problem solving skills.
• Be able to work as part of a team.
• Be able to lift and handle kitchen equipment and move dining furniture.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and serve food and drinks to users of the Food Court.
• Set up dining area and move tables and chairs as necessary.
• Prepare service areas and wash dishes and other used items.
• Clean equipment at the end of service.
• Must be able to work outside of normal hours including weekends and bank holidays.
