Job summary

Turning Point is seeking a compassionate Support Worker to help adults with learning disabilities across England. You will promote independence and support daily activities, including meals, budgeting and social outings, while building confidence and resilience.

The role is based in a 24-hour service with flexible shifts. Training is provided after probation, with coaching support to progress within the organisation.

Qualifications

• Essential traits include being passionate, caring and enthusiastic.
• Flexibility in shifts and patience are required.
• A great team player with lots of energy and good communication skills.
• Ability to complete the physical aspects of the role such as manual handling where needed.
• Experience helping people to manage anxiety is beneficial.
• Knowledge of learning disabilities and complex needs is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Promoting the independence of people we support.
• Supporting a full range of daily activities including cleaning and cooking, days out or going away on holiday.
• Arranging activities in the home and in the local community.
• Developing residents' life skills and personal interests.
• Helping residents stay safe and healthy.
• Assisting with personal care needs.
• Manual handling.
• Supporting people with medication including creams and lotions.
• Ensuring record keeping is maintained to the required standard at all times and contributing to service monitoring requirements.
