Job summary

Melfield-based MCS Group partners with a growing Chartered Accountancy firm in Belfast to recruit a Bookkeeper / Accounts Technician on a full-time, permanent basis. The role focuses on maintaining client bookkeeping, VAT/MTD submissions, and assisting with year-end records within a supportive practice.

Applicants should have proven bookkeeping experience in an accountancy setting, strong VAT knowledge, and familiarity with Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a bookkeeper in an accountancy practice.
• Confident handling multiple clients and deadlines.
• Strong working knowledge of VAT and MTD.
• Experience with cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage.
• Excellent attention to detail and good organisational skills.
• Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients across a range of sectors.
• Processing purchase and sales ledgers, bank and credit card transactions.
• Carrying out bank, supplier and control account reconciliations.
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns under Making Tax Digital.
• Preparing management accounts and assisting with year end records for the accounts team.
• Dealing directly with client queries in a professional and helpful manner.
