Job summary

Norfolk and Waveney Mind is seeking Bank Recovery Workers for the REST Hub Thetford to provide 1:1 and group emotional support, helping people in crisis, reducing isolation and connecting them with community resources. The role involves trauma-informed, recovery-focused practices and flexible cover for planned leave and training.

Full training will be provided, with DBS checks and safeguarding in place. The role supports flexible bank shifts across Norfolk and Waveney Mind services and travel to

Qualifications

• Experience supporting people with mental ill health, distress or crisis.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, emotionally complex environments.
• Ability to apply strengths-based, recovery-focused, trauma-informed approaches.
• Skilled at building rapport and trust quickly.
• Ability to assess information from multiple sources and make person-centred decisions.
• Comfortable collaborating with clinicians, peers, volunteers and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and group emotional support to prevent crisis escalation.
• Develop safety plans and coping strategies for individuals in crisis.
• Deliver and facilitate 1-to-1 sessions, workshops and group work.
• Introduce and tailor therapeutic tools such as CBT-informed techniques, mindfulness and emotional regulation.
• Help reduce isolation by reconnecting individuals with peer support and community networks.
• Support engagement with non-emergency services (housing, benefits, debt, carers' support).
• Maintain accurate records using the Norfolk and Waveney Client Management System.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external partners.
