Job summary

Prospero Teaching seeks a Functional Skills Mentor to support children and young people in Hampshire through 1:1 mentoring and practical learning support. The role focuses on motivation, personal development, and improving engagement with education in a non-traditional setting.

You will help learners develop essential English and Maths skills, working on behalf of Local Authorities with a flexible schedule and September start. DBS and travel locally across Hampshire are part of the requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting, including mentoring, tutoring, teaching assistant, learning support, youth work, teaching, or similar roles
• Confidence supporting Functional Skills English and Maths
• Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with young people
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Patient, supportive, and adaptable approach
• Experience supporting learners with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is desirable
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
• Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel locally across Hampshire
