Job summary

Are you an enthusiastic, motivated, considerate and patient Flexi Support Worker who wants to make a difference to the lives of adults with learning disabilities? Then join our Flexi (Casual) Worker Bank at Canterbury Oast Trust as a Flexi Support Worker to work across our Residential Services based at Aldington, Ashford, New Romney, and Woodchurch.

Canterbury Oast Trust takes pride in providing first class care and support for adults with learning disabilities and in some instances complex needs, across Kent. The ethos of all our homes is to support independence, dignity, choice and achievement by helping people to live the lives they choose.

As a member of our Flexi Support Worker team you will be offered 'ad hoc' hours to meet the needs of our Service Users and Tenants in order to:

• Provide good quality care and support to adults based on their needs through a person-centred approach

• Accompany adults to their life-skills sessions such as music, art and sensory sessions

• Assist them in every aspect of their daily lives, including personal care

• Provide a safe and supportive environment that enables individuals to feel valued, reach their potential and nurture their aspirations

• Maintain appropriate records and written reports

• Plan trips and activities

The ideal Flexi Support Worker will:

• Have an appreciation of the needs of adults with learning disabilities

• Be considerate, calm, patient, self-motivated, enthusiastic, respectful, non-judgmental and professional

• Be flexible as variable shifts include long days, weekends, sleep-ins, awake nights as allocated on an ad-hoc basis.

• Have an understanding of, or experience with, autism, dementia and epilepsy although not essential

• Have knowledge of specialist equipment although not essential, as person handling training will be provided

• Have sound interpersonal skills

• Possess good verbal and written communication skills plus basic IT and report writing skills

• Hold a Health & Social Care NVQ2 or Level 2 Diploma Qualification or be willing to undertake the Care Certificate

• Hold a driving licence due to our rural location and the requirement to drive to appointments/activities with service users, using a manual pool car.
