Job summary

Wishford Education group's Sandcastle Nursery in Kent is seeking a flexible Nursery Practitioner to deliver EYFS-informed activities for ages 2–4+. The role focuses on creating a warm, stimulating environment and working within the Dolphin, Turtle, and Starfish rooms to support child-centred learning.

Applicants should have an EYFS qualification (Level 2+ preferred) and the ability to communicate well with children and families. The position offers a 0 hour contract with a 12-month fixed term.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of the EYFS curriculum.
• Experience planning age-appropriate activities for children 0–5.
• EYFS Level 2+ qualification is preferred but not essential.
• Confident in creating a stimulating learning environment.
• Excellent communication with children and parents.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities based on children's interests.
• Maintain a safe and stimulating environment.
• Support room leader and collaborate with staff.
• Keep accurate developmental records where applicable.
• Attend to children's toileting needs discreetly.
• Follow nursery policies on safeguarding, health, and safety.

Sandcastles Nursery is part of St Faith’s Prep School, set in the beautiful Kent countryside. Hours, Salary & Benefits

• Hours: 0 hour contract. 12 months fixed term.

Skills

• An excellent understanding of the EYFS curriculum
• Experience in planning inspiring activities for children aged 0-5 to explore and enjoy
• Have a completed Early Years Level qualification (Level 2 or above) (not essential)
• Be confident in creating a stimulating environment that enables children to become confident learners
• Excellent communicator with the ability to quickly build relationships with the children and their parents

Responsibilities

• To plan and deliver a range of age-appropriate activities focusing on each individual child’s interests
• To ensure that a safe, stimulating environment is maintained for children while overseeing the implementation of activities
• To work alongside the staff team to ensure that the Nursery’s ethos is being fulfilled
• To work with all staff in promoting good staff practices across the Nursery and always ensure the safety of the children and their environment
• To liaise with and fully support your room leader
• To ensure that all child development records are updated, where applicable
• To discreetly attend to young children’s toileting needs
• To agree to the policies and procedures and carry them out to the best of your ability
• To adhere to all nursery policies on safeguarding, health and safety and food hygiene etc.
