Job summary

National Grid Electricity Distribution in Bristol is seeking a skilled vehicle mechanic/fleet technician to maintain the fleet and support field engineers. You will work 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, ensuring vehicles are safe, compliant and ready for use.

The role involves inspection, fault diagnosis, routine servicing, repairs to heavy goods vehicles, and support for testing and regulatory requirements. A strong focus on safety and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• Essential NVQ/IMI Level 2 or 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
• Full driving license (Class C preferred).
• Competence with vehicle diagnostics and IT systems to update records.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain and repair vehicles to DVSA and manufacturer standards.
• Carry out routine servicing and diagnose faults to minimise downtime.
• Prepare vehicles for annual testing and inspections.
• Order parts and manage stock levels, ensure compliance with safety rules.
• Road test vehicles and accurately diagnose mechanical and electrical faults.
• Keep accurate repair and maintenance documentation.
