Utilise Recruitment Ltd is hiring a Fleet Manager in Weston-super-Mare to own the strategic delivery of the Fleet Department, ensuring compliance, procurement, and performance across the operation.

You will lead vehicle procurement, manage a busy workshop when needed, and drive fleet efficiency while reporting to the leadership team. A Transport Manager CPC and HGV engineering background are highly valued for this role.

• Salary: GBP45,000 - GBP55,000 per annum DOE + GBP3,600 Car Allowance + Full Generous Benefits Package!

• Hours: 40 hours per week

About the Fleet Manager Role

Are you a strategic transport professional with a strong engineering background and a track record of top-tier compliance? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Fleet Manager to join a dynamic Senior Leadership Team. In this pivotal role, you will take full ownership of the strategic delivery of our Fleet Department. You will oversee fleet and driver compliance, manage vehicle workshop operations (when the Workshop Manager is away), and lead the procurement of vehicles, plant, and equipment-all while sustaining our coveted green-banded operator's licence.

Key Responsibilities

• Compliance & Leadership: Act as the primary Transport Manager/CPC holder on an Operator's licence that is already in excellent health.
• Workshop Management: Oversee a busy commercial vehicle maintenance workshop handling both internal and third-party vehicles.
• Strategic Procurement: Lead vehicle and plant specification, manage the overall fleet profile, and negotiate high-value supply chain and service contracts.
• Technical & Operational Support: Partner with operational frontline services to ensure efficient vehicle allocation, asset utilisation, and fleet efficiency.
• Commercial Accountability: Take full budget and KPI responsibility for the Fleet Department, delivering regular variance updates directly to the Board of Directors.

What We Are Looking For

• Qualifications: A valid Transport Manager CPC qualification is essential, alongside a background or qualification in HGV vehicle engineering. Professional body membership is highly desirable.
• Experience: Proven experience as a fleet manager within environmental services or logistics.
• Skills: Strong commercial acumen with experience in fleet procurement and managing vendor agreements. When the Workshop Manager is away, you would be required to oversee Workshop Operations to make sure operations continue smoothly.
• Relationship Builder: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with internal teams, drivers, and external stakeholders.
