Job summary

Stagecoach Bedford is seeking a hands-on Deputy Engineering Manager to lead a skilled team of engineers, technicians, cleaners and apprentices in a modern depot. You’ll own fleet maintenance, engineering operations and facilities, including EVs and depot infrastructure, ensuring safety, compliance and capability are built into day-to-day work.

Qualifications

• Engineering experience in bus/coach/HGV/rail or automotive sectors.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Experience managing compliance, budgets, stock and health & safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers, technicians, cleaners and apprentices to keep buses safe, clean and road-ready.
• Oversee maintenance and presentation of 60 buses and depot plant/building upkeep.
• Manage day-to-day operations, resource planning, stock control and procurement.
• Coach staff and drive continuous improvement and talent development.
• Collaborate with the Engineering Director on regional projects and ensure DVSA compliance.
