Job summary

EMED Group is seeking an Ambulance Fleet Assistant to join our team in Shepton Mallet. The role ensures compliance of routine maintenance for ambulances and ancillary equipment, updates Fleetcheck daily, and manages VOR status with supporting documentation.

You will cover scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, manage parts stock, and support a safe, efficient fleet operation. Minimum 30 hours weekly with potential overtime and a flexible rota to discuss at interview.

• Able to complete vehicle deep cleans to a high standard.

Responsibilities

• Repair, service and maintain equipment per manufacturer guidelines.
• Schedule and perform vehicle deep cleans with documentation.
• Ensure defects are cleared promptly with documentation.
• Maintain supply of basic spare parts and report defects per process.
• Work safely adhering to Health and Safety and COSHH.
• Advise Fleet management if a product cannot be repaired safely.
• Report equipment involved in incidents to Fleet management.
• Ensure disposal-ready vehicles are de-kitted and logged.

Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Ambulance Fleet Assistant (AFA) to join our team based in Shepton Mallet.

The AFA position is to ensure full compliance of routine scheduled mechanical, ancillary equipment at all times. You will ensure reported defects are rectified in a timely manner whilst ensuring the fleet management system (Fleetcheck) is updated daily to reflect maintenance events that have been completed.

The role will manage VOR (vehicle off road) and update daily, ensure defects are cleared with supporting documentation uploaded. Cover scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance and repairs in an efficient and effective manner. Control parts stock levels ensuring these are replenished as used.

Minimum working hours 30 per week, with the possibility of overtime. There is some flexibility in the rota, which will be discussed in more detail at interview.

Duties include:

• To repair, service and maintain product/equipment as per the manufacturer’s guidelines as required e.g. top up washer fluid, oil change, change bulbs and wipers.
• Schedule and perform vehicle deep cleans to a high standard, completing all supporting documentation.
• Ensure any vehicle defects are promptly cleared and supporting documentation is completed.
• Ensure adequate supply of basic spare parts are available and maintained within the contract and any defects reported as per the defect process.
• Work safely, ensuring Health and Safety and COSHH regulations are adhered to.
• Advise Fleet management team where a product cannot be successfully repaired to a safe standard.
• Report equipment that had been involved in an incident, to the Fleet management team.
• Ensure all vehicles for disposal are de-kitted before collection and a log of all equipment has been taken.

To be considered as an AFA, you need to:

• Hold a full (manual) valid UK driving licence with less than 6 penalty points.
• Have experience of using practical and mechanical skills.
• Be able to complete vehicle deep cleans to a high standard.
• Always demonstrate a positive and professional approach to customers and colleagues.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, including ability to work to tight deadlines and to act on own initiative.
• Demonstrate a flexible approach with strong team working skills.
• Demonstrate drive, determination, and motivation to achieve business targets.
