Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Logistics and Procurement, the Fleet and Logistics Supervisor will manage and support the delivery of world class service to our customers, shareholders and stakeholders through effective and efficient fleet management and procurement practices. Perform procurement transaction activities related to operations, maintenance, fleet and warehouse. Supervise Fleet and Warehouse staff on various daily, monthly, and annual procurement and logistics activities.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Provide a safe work environment for all employees by ensuring regular safety orientation and training, enforcement of safe work practices and compliance with regulatory requirements, correcting unsafe conditions, preventing lingering unsafe or unhealthful conditions or hazards, investigating workplace accidents, and promoting and supporting efforts for timely return to work for employees.
- Utilize fleet and purchasing software to ensure best practices and procedures.
- Schedule preventative maintenance, repairs, servicing, and retirement of equipment with vendors and stakeholders.
- Work with stakeholders, Director of Logistics and Procurement, and Engineering for planning fleet replacement schedules and designing of new equipment.
- Work with the asset management team to continue to develop and implement equipment and program efficiencies.
- Conducts cost analysis studies; maintains or directs the maintenance of accurate records.
- Prepares written reports, budgets, and analyses as required.
- Conducts employee performance evaluations, staff development, and recommends and implements steps to address performance related issues for up to 10 employees.
- Identifies Supplier Diversity opportunities.
- Analyze price proposals, financial reports to determine reasonable prices.
- Develop cost reduction strategies and savings plans.
- Locate vendors of materials, equipment, service and supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales.
- Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims.
- Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, and materials.
- Assist with the day-to-day purchasing, stocking and deliveries of strategic materials.
- Administer contracts with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives.
- Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
- Review catalogs, industry periodicals, directories, trade journals, and Internet sites and consult with other department personnel to locate necessary goods and services.
- Oversee monthly and annual inventory counts.
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
- Ability to plan and supervise the day-to-day activities of staff and contractors performing a wide variety of fleet and warehouse service and maintenance tasks.
- Planning, organizing and managing purchasing, general services, storage, and disposal activities.
- Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goals.
- Use sound independent judgment within established guidelines.
- Ability to utilize a personal computer and current applications of word processing, spreadsheet and pertinent software programs. Expertise in Microsoft Office, strong excel skills required.
- Familiarity with Oracle; E-1, CCB, MWM, Microsoft Office products and Powerplant are a plus.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
Required Education and Experience:
- Minimum of five year of supervisory experience.
- Experience in purchasing and inventory management.
- Experience in fleet management.
Other Requirements:
- Must possess a valid California driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.
