Job summary

Cotech Building Careers is recruiting a Project Director to lead delivery of a flagship £150 million construction scheme for a leading UK main contractor in Greater London. You will oversee pre-construction through to practical completion, coordinating construction, engineering, commercial, planning, design management and commissioning.

The role demands proven senior leadership, strong stakeholder management, and a track record of delivering large-scale projects.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Project Director or Senior Project Lead delivering major UK projects (£100m+).
• Strong track record on large-scale commercial, mixed-use, residential, healthcare, industrial or infra schemes.
• Experience managing complex stakeholder environments and multidisciplinary delivery teams.
• Extensive knowledge of delivery methodologies, project controls, and risk management.
• Strong commercial awareness with experience administering major contracts.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or related field. Chartered status desirable.
• SMSTS certification essential; CSCS Black Card desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for successful delivery of a £150m project.
• Lead and coordinate construction, engineering, commercial, planning, design management, and commissioning.
• Ensure delivery aligns with objectives, contracts, and client expectations.
• Develop and implement robust execution and delivery strategies.
• Act as senior client representative and manage stakeholders.
• Build trusted relationships and maintain client satisfaction.
• Lead senior project meetings, reporting, and governance reviews.
• Manage risks, disputes, and commercial performance, including budget control and cash flow.
• Procurement, subcontract packages, valuations, variations and final accounts coordination.
• Ensure contract administration under JCT/NEC forms; identify and mitigate commercial risks.
• Drive programme certainty, construction sequencing, and progress monitoring.
• Champion safety, environmental sustainability, and quality.
• Lead and develop the project team; foster collaboration across supply chain.
