Job summary

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience in fitting, assembly and workshop practice.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately.
• Proficiency in operating conventional machine tools (lathes, mills, drills).
• Basic measurement skills using micrometers, calipers and similar instruments.
• Understanding of manufacturing safety standards and safe tool use.
• Good problem-solving, attention to detail and ability to work to tight tolerances and deadlines.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Fitter/Machinist role based in Keighley. The Fitter/Machinist will be responsible for assembling, fitting, and machining components to precise specifications, using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and machine tools. Daily tasks include reading and interpreting technical drawings, setting up and operating conventional machines (such as lathes, milling machines, and drilling machines), and performing routine maintenance and adjustments to equipment. The role involves inspecting finished parts for quality, making necessary corrections, and collaborating with production and engineering teams to meet project deadlines. The Fitter/Machinist is also expected to follow all safety procedures, maintain a clean and organized work area, and support continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
