Job summary

INDMAN is seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Machine Tool Fitter in Coventry to join a well-established precision machine tool manufacturer. The role involves building and assembling complex tools while maintaining high quality standards.

You will read engineering drawings, fit components to tight tolerances, and perform maintenance and calibration of pneumatic and hydraulic systems. A full driving licence is required, with forklift licence desirable.

Qualifications

• Four years’ experience in machine tool building or complex mechanical assembly.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience with tight tolerances in a precision engineering environment.
• Strong mechanical fitting and assembly skills.
• Good problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and quality-focused approach.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• A full driving licence; forklift licence desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Building and assembling complex machine tools from engineering and assembly drawings.
• Installing, maintaining and repairing mechanical systems and components.
• Precision fitting of bearings and assembling components to tight tolerances.
• Hand scraping mating faces to achieve the correct alignment and fit.
• Completing drilling, tapping and general sub-assembly work.
• Installing, testing and calibrating pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Fitting machine pipework, cabling, switches, sensors and motors.
• Completing sheet metal cutting and general fitting tasks.
• Using toolroom machinery, including lathes, mills and grinders.
• Operating lifting equipment, including overhead cranes and slings.
• Carrying out customer service visits when required.

Location: Coventry
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 07:30 - 16:00; Friday, 07:30 - 15:00
Travel: Some overseas travel required
