Job summary

Boels Rental is seeking a reliable Driver/Fitter to join our events team in Chelmsford. You will transport, install and dismantle event lighting equipment and materials at venues, performing on-site repairs with a hands-on approach.

The ideal candidate holds a full, clean Class 1 driving licence, can read event setup plans, and is physically fit to lift heavy items. Flexibility for early mornings, weekends and travel is required; forklift/telehandler licences are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Driver/Fitter in events, exhibitions or construction.
• Full, clean Class 1 driving licence.
• Ability to read event setup plans or technical drawings (desirable).
• Physically fit with the ability to lift and move heavy items.
• Flexible with working hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends and travel as required.
• Good problem-solving skills and a proactive on-site approach.
• Team player with strong communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills including Excel.

Responsibilities

• Load, transport and unload lighting equipment and materials to and from venues.
• Assemble and dismantle event lighting setups and perform on-site repairs.
• Ensure equipment is fitted securely and safely according to plans and safety regulations.
• Conduct pre-event checks on lights, vehicles and materials.
• Drive company vehicles to event locations locally or regionally.
• Collaborate with the event production team to meet quality and design standards.
• Assist in warehouse duties, including maintaining tools and equipment.
• Follow health & safety procedures at all times.
• Provide excellent customer service when liaising with clients on-site.

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Driver/Fitter to join our events team. This role involves the transportation, installation, and dismantling of event lighting equipment, and materials at various venues. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in repairing and installing, lighting tower and associated equipment, as well as a valid driving licence and a flexible attitude toward working hours.

• Load, transport, and unload lighting equipment and materials to and from venues.
• Assemble and dismantle event lighting setups and on-site repairs.
• Ensure all equipment is fitted securely and safely according to event plans and safety regulations.
• Conduct pre-event checks on lights, vehicles, and materials.
• Drive company vehicles (vans/lorries) to event locations locally or regionally.
• Work closely with the event production team to ensure installations meet quality and design standards.
• Assist in warehouse duties, including maintaining tools and equipment.
• Follow health & safety procedures at all times.
• Provide excellent customer service when liaising with clients on-site.

What Boels Offers

• A competitive annual salary ranging from £35,000 to £38,000 plus quarterly performance based bonuses. The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. It gives you an indication of what you could realistically expect to earn during your tenure in the position. It also takes into account any potential annual salary raises/reviews. Actual salary offered will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, relevant skills/experience, relevant qualifications and performance.

Your Profile:

• Previous experience as a Driver/Fitter, with experience within the event industry, exhibitions, and construction industry.
• Full, clean Class 1 driving licence
