Job summary

Holcim UK is seeking a dedicated Fitter to maintain our DSM equipment and silos across customer sites. You will oversee preventative maintenance, perform essential repairs, and manage safe delivery and collection of silos, contributing to high-profile projects while prioritising safety and teamwork.

You will work in a collaborative environment with a strong focus on health, safety and continuous improvement, ensuring equipment readiness and compliance with site standards.

Qualifications

  • Safety is the top priority; follow risk assessments and PPE protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out regular preventative checks and maintenance on DSM equipment and silos.
  • Complete silo builds and maintenance tasks in the yard prior to delivery.
  • Safely lift, load, transport and place silos at customer sites.
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain clear communication with operations, production teams and customers.
  • Adhere to health, safety and environmental standards in all tasks.

The Opportunity

At Holcim, we are seeking a dedicated Fitter to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be key to ensuring our Dry Silo Mortar (DSM) equipment and silos are maintained, safely prepared, and ready to support high-profile customer sites.

You will oversee preventative maintenance, perform essential repairs and plant builds, and handle the safe delivery and collection of site silos. Joining Holcim means stepping into an engaging workplace where safety, continuous improvement, and teamwork are at the heart of everything we do.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular preventative checks and carry out maintenance plans across plants, structures, and silos.
  • Complete full silo builds within the maintenance yard prior to delivery.
  • Safely manage the lifting, loading, transport, and site placement of silos to customer locations.
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns, implement efficient solutions, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain active communication with operational management, production teams, and external customers.
  • Uphold the highest health, safety, and environmental standards, ensuring risk assessments and safe working practices are strictly followed.
Who You Are
  • Safety-Focused Professional: You hold safety as your top priority. You take ownership of completing work safely, using appropriate personal protective equipment, following risk assessments, and looking out for your colleagues.
  • Skilled Technician: You possess strong mechanical aptitude with practical experience in plant maintenance, preventative inspections, and equipment repair.
  • Qualified Specialist: Ideally, you hold a valid Class 2 HGV Licence with a full CPC, allowing you to transport equipment safely to customer sites when required.
  • Collaborative Team Player: You build positive, respectful relationships with colleagues and customers alike. You communicate clearly, act with integrity, and embrace an inclusive team environment.
  • Organised and Reliable: You take pride in your work and presentation, managing your time efficiently, arriving punctually, and maintaining high standards across your tools and equipment.
